Gracie's Graduation

Gracie was supposed to graduate in April but she didn't think she'd walk.  It was pretty expensive for robes,  etc. so she called to say not to worry about coming down for graduation.  We were ok with that so we didn't give it another thought.  Then, out of the blue she calls back a few weeks later to say she'd received a call from "a big-wig on campus".  She actually told me his name and what he does but I didn't recognize the name so she just said, "He's a big-wig on campus."  Anyway, he asked her if she was planning on graduating and she said, "Um, unless you know of a reason I can't."  He replied, "No, you can graduate.  I'm just calling to ask if you'll give the closing prayer at it."  And, that's how come we decided to go to Gracie's graduation.

We went down and stayed with Kristi and Haini on April 23rd so we could get to the Harris Fine Arts Building in time to get some seats.

Mark and Laura's family were also staying there while they looked for a new home for them. It was fun to be together again. Kristi and the kids made Gracie candy leis to give her after the graduation. They weren't going to be able to get in so they were waiting till she came out afterwards.

We drove all over campus trying to find a parking place and I offered to drop Dan off at the building so he wouldn't have to walk far but he wanted to go with me to park. We ended up out by the ROTC building which left us quite a ways to go before we got where we were suposed to be. Anyway, it worked out and we got inside and had some great seats.

It was quite a large class of students; all in Communications of some sort.  The speakers were good and we enjoyed being there.

I got a couple of pictures of her as she accepted her diploma however they aren't very good.                 She was quite a ways away from us so, such as they are:

Here is a copy of the program and you'll notice Gracie's name at the bottom.

Afterwards we met Kristi, Laura and all the kids outside on the lawn where they took at least 100 pictures.  Said to say, these are the only two I could find of her, but they are treasures for sure!

Afterwards we met everyone at a Mexican restaurant in Orem and had a huge dinner.  It was wonderful to be together and celebrate a great college career with Grace.

Who could have asked for more???
