The Wedding Luncheon

The Friday night before Seth and Ali's wedding, Will, Alisha and I went about setting up a tent.  No, not just a tent... more like a circus tent.
We were having the wedding luncheon in the backyard the next day and because we were worried about the heat in the afternoon we got a tent from Signiture Party rental.
We didn't actually know if it would really fit in the backyard, but with Will taking measurements and walking off the yard, we decided it was worth a try. Will made several adjustments as we went, but in the end it fit and the next day we all enjoyed the shade.

For lunch we had chicken, corn on the cob, frog-eye salad, toss salad, potato salad, rolls, jello, baked beans, and other things I can't quite remember right now. Needless to say, we had lots of food and time to visit with everyone before the reception that evening.

Dan's 62nd Birthday

August 5, 2012 seemed like a magical day for a birthday.  It was also the day that James, Elizabeth, Gwenevere and Gracie as well as Patrick and Tessha were all heading back home after Granma's funeral.  We were sad that they were going so we decided to go with them ~ at least part of the way.

James wanted to go back via Salmon, ID. and I thought it was a perfect day for a drive.  Dan agreed so we followed them and Patrick and Tessha followed us.  Heidi even came along because she was going to Tacoma for a few days with Elizabeth and James.

Will drove our car and Dan sat up front with him while I sat in back with Gwenevere.  We set up the DVD and watched a movie.  We also took pictures.  Gwenevere has the skills of a good photographer, even when she couldn't see out the window.

We stopped in Salmon for lunch at Dave's Pizza.  I think we were all hungry and it sure tasted good.

The boys had to play a game of pool before we left.

I think Gwenevere was the winner.

Then they went on their way and Will, Dan and I had a leisurely drive home.  What a wonderful day!!
I guess in the end, we all won!

Will, the Handy Man

Will stayed with us for the week between Granma's funeral and Seth and Ali's wedding.  On Thursday he put off all the other things he wanted to do just to help me with a "please help list".

My sisters and I had repainted the kitchen several months ago but I had never been able to replace the electrical wall plates.  Will even replace the sockets so that they would all be white and match the plates.  He made several trips to the store to get the "just right" stuff to make it all work.

Believe me, I am so excited to have things looking so nice. He even showed me how to replace sockets. I did one myself and didn't even get shocked.

Of course, we let him sleep on the tramp after all his hard work.
Mostly, we just loved having him with us for a whole week.

The Cat Chair Gets New Fur

Remember the famous Cat Chair that used to sit in Granma Thomas's kitchen and has been in our kitchen ever since sometime around 1990?  Well, it finally got a new fur coat.
After that many years, the chair was falling apart.  James had repaired it a few years back but once again the screws were coming out and the boards were coming apart.
Problem was, the screws were hidden under the carpet so the carpet had to come off in order to replace the old screws with new ones. I thought it would be an easy process but it actually took quite a bit of time. The old carpet had to come off, the screws had to be replaced and new carpet had to be put back on. Yeah, it's done and hopefully, it will hold up a little longer now.

So Sad ~ Seth moves out!

All good things must come to an end and that's exactly what happened when Seth moved out.
However, it was sure a good thing for Seth.  It meant he had finally found a home for him and Ali in Pocatello.  It's close to school and close to work so we helped him load up and head south.
It was fun while it lasted, Seth.  We loved having you with us and we're even excited for your new place.  Just don't forget where we live.

Later on, Dan and Seth loaded up a U-Haul and finished the move.

Potted Flowers

One of the things I've enjoyed the most this summer is potting flowers.  I wanted our backyard to look pretty since we were going to be having Seth and Ali's wedding luncheon there.

So, I took to the pots and put in flowers.  I've loved seeing them around the yard.
I even got the garden in.  This is a first for me since Dan usually plants the garden.

It's been a fun summer in the yards.

The Lost Gold Coins

Sometime last winter I lost a bag of gold coins that I had collected.  After a few months I gave up thinking that it would show up.  Guess what I recently found.  Yap!  The bag of coins was right where I put it however, it was under a bunch of other stuff.  Wow!  I really did find it.  It gives me hope of finding all those other things I've lost.

Recovering the Patio Swings

One of the things that needed to happen this summer was to recover the patio swings.

It happened!

Elijah's Big Birthday Bash!

On July 14 Dan and I headed to Orem to celebrate Elijah's birthday. We picked up Alisha at her apartment and went straight to the park.
Of course there was a BBQ/Party at the park. Here are a few pictures of a fun night with the Sugies.
